The Vigilante wants to keep the civic conversation rolling, so we’re going to publish a few local blogs. Check back periodically to see what we’ve added and to see what our bloggers have been up to.
Proposals
We’re interested in proposals. So if you think you have a good idea for a blog, contact us and include the words “blog proposal” in the subject line. We are going to be selective, so please put your best foot forward. That means make a convincing pitch and give us reason to believe you would be good and that you have some kind of plan. A blog is an ongoing thing, so a couple post ideas won’t cut it. The right blogs will have a clear core subject, consistent point of view and a strong voice. We will likely turn down some proposals. It’s not a personal affront. So please don’t take it that way if we say no.
Considerations
Bloggers need to live in or be from the Helena area.
We aren’t particularly interested in political ramblings unless they are super engaging and unique. That goes for the left and the right.
We’re fine with non-professional writers. In fact, we invite people whose voices are under-represented or non-existent in the media.
Please don’t propose blogs that are too similar to blogs we already have. We won’t be duplicating content areas.
We expect bloggers to post something at least every month, preferably more frequently than that.
Bloggers need to use their real names unless the stuff they write about could put their livelihood in jeopardy.
What we know we’d like to see
Something about living a simple life. Here’s an example of such a blog that we think is great.
Something about those seemingly innocuous personal decisions we make and how they affect the broader community.
Something funny as hell.
Other stuff we never would have thought of in a million years.
